The essence of being high is this one moment of not worrying about anything, not feeling pain, and thinking that everything will be ok, it's a moment of bliss that so many people fail to find without the use of a some stimulant or depressant. For people who can't laugh, they laugh, for people who can't think straight, they see everything, for people who are always angry or depressed they're the opposite.
But then, it all comes back & you try again & again until it gets harder & harder each time.
So in short, it's great, but there are long term problems if you let it control you.

Tho there are similarities for all ppl, it's different for everyone and very hard to describe to someone who has no first hand concept of what it feels like. If you've gotten high then you should be on your way to defining it from the effects it has for you.

It's a state of bliss... where all your worries and problems go away. Unfortunately, this is the reason most people tend to fall for drugs and alcohol (along with the addiction piece).
