Why would such a small fruit be so expensive?

Because they taste so good and have a short season. It's all about supply and demand

I know what u mean, i went the other day to get some for a craving and it was $7.99 a pound!!!!!!!!!!!! so i couldnt get them for my shortcake thingies... so I got peaches instead which I got like 15 peaches for like $3!!!!!!!!! lasted days....

cherries have a short season, and you have to get them picked before the birds get to them. birds can ruin a cherry crop very quickly.

it depends were I live they ain't that much expensive.maybe the country u live in can not plant cherry.so u have to import them.
and that is whay they r expensive.
