When people bump into you at a store no one takes the time to say excuse me or I'm sorry. Why not? People won't let you merge onto the thruway. Why? I just doesn't make sense to me. Americans need to relax and become a little more humble since being a miserable jerk doesn't do anyone any good.

People seem to forget that it is always best to treat others as you would prefer to be treated. Instead, they want royal treatment and their way as the walk all over others. Of course, they then blame the other person for allowing them to walk over them. But, if that person did not allow it, then it would be fighting all the place and lots worse than it already is. Someone has to be the bigger person and just let it go. No matter how hard it may become.

People are in such a hurry these days. They work long long hours and allow themself only so much spare time before they need to be at their next stop. So, traffic, crowds...anything, will make them cranky and the already lack of manners results in them not being considerate to others. Sure bet they do some cussing when someone just like them does not allow them to merge when traffic is backed up. :)

Continue to be the bigger person!! It will get you some place...someday :)

First off It is not every one.
Second, you may be asking for some of it....

I'll Explain...

In the supermarket it is a right of way thing like on the road, if you cut me off or bump into me you apologize... If I bump you I apologize... I believe there needs to be more order in the super markets... for some reason people drive their carts on the opposite side of the isle than they would their car on the road, Why? if you are on the wrong side you are half at fault in my book. Did you ever stop for one thing and have it take 20 mins to get it and get out of the market, because of things like this. I have, and that's just a start in the market for etiquette.

On the highway it is a different story.... Especially when merging.... 3 times this week alone while merging onto a 65 MPH highway I had a person in front of me either merge on going like 35-40 MPH, or worse stop at the end of the ramp. When I am going 60-65 behind them..... When people are merging into a gap I will let off the gas, and let them in, only if they are close to the speed limit and the gap, however am not stopping on the highway to let a moron that cant drive onto a highway, that is more dangerous for me than it is for them, plus if they cant merge I dont want them in front of me.

Learn to drive or have someone do it for you....

You May be thinking that I am aggressive, and that may be a little true, but if everyone had a little more skill behind the wheel of their shopping cart, or worse yet their car, I would not have to be so rude...

You will get all kinds of answers so I will see if this one makes sense to you. Since the 60s most families had both mother and father working. They did not take the time to teach their children good manors and the kids figured if mom and pop really don't care that much then why should I. I am sure if you ask them they would not say their parents did not care. Under this though they have feelings of being left alone much to much. Children do need a lot of attention when growing up and if they don't get it they do not know how to relate properly among others. These same parents now are becoming grand parents and the circle keeps turning until one day someone understands and changes it. Does this make sense to you?

Believe it or not, the everyday manners we posess today are the best in history.

Maybe they are just tired or bitter at everyone else being miserable jerks. Practice the good manners like the excuse me and thank yous and it will spread around. Smile just a little sometimes in public. Set an example and ignore other's shortcomings in that department. Maybe you will brighten someone's day by just being nice, and making them more comfortable.

I'm usually the one who says "Hello" or "Bless You" to a stranger that sneezes. What I have noticed it that I usually get no response. Unfortunatly I think it is due to lack of interest in what is going on around them. The crankiness is just a way for some people to feel superior and avoid being pushed around for once in that day. Inferiority complexes will do that to a person.

I am so happy that you put this question on because it pisses me off when do that to me and i try to be polite to everyone I come in contact with but people are just plain out rude. I think it is because of what is going on in the world with the cutting of jobs and people not having the money anymore. It's breaking people spirits and they are taking it out on us I don't know what to do but I stay the same because when you are nice it doesn't help they think you are being funny and become even angrier

Because, overall, most people are overwhelmed with their own personal matters. We work too many hours but still have the daily things like shopping, cooking, and family issues. Very few people are really in a good mood and we take it out on each other which makes it worse.

Good hockey team. Sorry they didn't beat the Hurricanes!

People are cranky and grumpy because they are exhausted and no one else cuts them a break. Try living in Honolulu for a while. Even the drivers are polite.

For starters, stop ripping on Bush. Last I checked, our majority voted him in.
And the problem is, people have no common sense. So those of us who do are quickly losing patience when it comes to the lack thereof and general stupidity.
If people would think before they act, a lot could be solved :-)

I agree with you on this.

I just read about a study they did that more Americans are becoming more impatient.

I think this might be due to convenience of everything. Cell phones and Internet

So many forget to enjoy a simple sunset
