Pediatric and adolescent narcissism is a recognized mental disease with a variety of treatment options. If in fact you believe your children have mental problems (above and beyond the "me first" attitude all kids go through) I encourage you to seek a therapist. Also, have you tried Googling the phrase "adolescent narcissism"? I did, and there are many links out there with valuable information - articles, information, advice, book titles, etc.

Parenting is hard. I'm sure you do the best you can. It's not wrong to ask for help from a professional if you think you need it. Believe me, I've been there.

Good luck! And remember, your kids need your love and support no matter what. But letting them have everything they want and do everything they want to do is NOT love and support.

My 11 year old went through an "all about me" stage and to break her of it I showed her what others had to deal with. Take them to the homeless shelter, a children's hospital, an animal shelter, anywhere that they can see what reality is like for others in a lot worse shape. The best thing that you can replace their narcasism with is compasion for others. One other note, children learn what they live, so you may want to consider the source of their behavior.

Great book out there: "Why Is It Always About You?"
Check it out - it has a great chapter on narcissistic kids and how to deal with it.
