Nothing. They will have to figure it out for themselves. Before you remove the splinter from your fellow man's eye, remove the beam from your own. In other words, we have to stop all of our polluting in our own countries before we can even begin to point fingers at other countries.

Stop China? That sounds a little drastic.
You have to realize that most people don't pollute because they think its fun. They pollute because they can't afford to do anything else. China is an enormous country, and many people have no food. They NEED development to stay alive.
Development, especially in the early stages, leads to pollution. It's great to teach people that pollution is harmful, but realistically, until they can afford to feed their family, they won't be overly concerned about it. The best long-term solution to pollution is to overcome poverty, and the only way to overcome poverty is to allow economic success.

The three gorges dam will be one of the biggest sustainable sources of energy in the world. well done china. the cracks in their open cast coal mining attempts produce more c02 than everything in the UK, naughty china. They, as will we all, need to realise that there is going to have to be an environmental price on everything. Just convince them that if we are all dead there will noone to buy all their cheap shirts, shoes and cars

The largest polluter on the planet is the textile industry so as long as people continue to wear synthetic fabrics like polyester the problem will continue.

The USA is still by far the worst per capita. As China continues to industrialize they are using more and more energy. We can't expect them to stop unless we set a much better example.

Have them adhere to the guidelines set forth in the Kyoto Accord, which would then give the US a reason to consider it. They were allowed to get around the requirements because they are a poor developing country.

if there's a will...there's a way... if China would be on poorer situations... you know like putting them into poor countries and live there... maybe they would realize the other part of the earth... where everything decays fast than they thought and knew...

We cannot compel them to do anything, as it is considered an internal issue.
