“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace on earth! No, rather a sword lf you love your father, mother, sister, brother, more than me, you are not worthy of being mine." Matthew 10:34

Sounds like you aren't allowed to love anyone in your family more than him. Now that's family values.

Maverick, I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of the bible and yes, taking god over your family is wrong and stupid.

The myt-
First, there is no god.
Second, an imaginary god is not 'coming back."
Third- if this imaginary god did come back I'd be ready to fight it for all the murder and slavery it's created.

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?
Jesus? Christianity? .

Your opinions only, no parroting or C&P from a Bible.

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Gods do not die? Do they?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

If Jesus died for our sins, he should be dead, dead, dead!

jesus doesn't make threats, if he say it, then he WILL do it. He doen,t mean it like that. The bible say god is a jealous god, meaning he is the supreme ruler, king of kings and lord of lords,
you or your parents wasn't here when the earth was made, why should they/ anyone or anything be held in a higher position than god? Jesus will return soon to destroy all who oppose, and there is no neutral position, he says you either are for him or against, if you are not on his side then you will feel his sword! if you dont want to be cut, i would suggest taking his side.

Seems like you forgot Luke 19:27 where Jesus says:
"But bring those enemies of mine who didn't want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me."

But seriously, you are not supposed to actually read the bible, at least not the parts your ministers don't want you to read. You are just supposed to keep going to church and keep writing the checks.

If anyone actually reads the parts of the bible they are not supposed to, just claim they are reading it out of context because they are influenced by Satan. Also don't let them actually learn science. That will also turn them away from the church. Most importantly keep the checks from coming in. Jesus needs the money.

Jesus was saying that if must choose between doing what God wants us to do or doing something for the family (that will cause you to sin against God), we are to choose God, even if this means causing a division (as a sword cuts apart) in the family.

How do you know that there is not God?
Have you ask His to reveal Himself to you?
Have you gone to spirit filled churches and asked for prayer, so that you could know that He is? (I would suggest going to Pentecostal and Apostolic churches).

Warning - only seek Him if you are willing to change. God is willing that we seek Him, but He does not put up with people who will not then believe Him.

Good, you're reading the Bible. Keep reading. In it you'll find all the answers you need.
You can love anyone you want, as much as you want, you just have to love Jesus Christ more than anybody else. Oh, and he won't kill you. Jesus was speaking about a second death, Hell.

Me thinks thou doest protest too much whay does an athiest spend so much time in the scriptures? who is that you seek to convince? Yes Christians put God above all things...The Bible also teachs to love your brother as yourself...Honor you Father and your Mother...So if we put God before ourselves we have poor family values?

He is talking about division because of faith.
Taking the verse into history Jesus said becoming a Christian will cause problems in your Jesish home. The choice is up to you become a Christian and accept the rejection or Reject me because their acceptance is more important to you.

Anyone can grab a single passage from the Bible and take it out of context.

wow, do you people even read what you write? Think of what you say before you speak? You decide to cherry pick a verse to suit some egomiacal fetish. This is a great site to see that state of our society. sad
