A host need not give up his bed to a guest. Especially if the host already shares his bed with a spouse or companion. That way two people are inconvenienced instead of only the host. A host should arrange for accomodations as comfortable and as close to the same comfort level as he enjoys and is able by his position and status to provide. A guest should not disparage the host's offer of accomodations, after all, he is a guest and is treated with all courtesy of a guest but also may be treated as equal to a family member. Guests and family members recognize and accept the ability of the host to provide and should not expect more than the host is capable of providing.

I think a host should give their bed to a guest if that person was invited over and the host does not have a guest room. The host can sleep on the couch for one night. That's just good house manners.

Well, if you're my brother, in your mind you're better than anyone else, so...He keeps his bed and has his guests sleep on the floor. I have enough room in my house to host a small army, so maybe I shouldn't be so hypocritical

It would be a nice gesture to give your bed to a guest. However if this person is not your relative then I would give them so comfortable pillows and a blanket for the couch:}

Yes, if this person is invited you should offer them a comfortable place to sleep. Also if it is family. If this is an uninvited guest that is not family, send them to the couch or buy a cheap blow up bed

Personally, i think that if you feel it is right then go ahead. As long as you know the person, or think that you can trust them. But nobody can tell you how to feel or think so, the decision is yours. Just remember one thing, do not feel obligated to give up your bed just because they are staying there, they are in your home and should feel honored to stay there, even if they have to sleep on the couch. I hope this helped ease your mind a little. Thanks!

I think that if you invited them, they are your guest. Offering them a place to sleep (especially if under the influence) is not out of the question.
