I have a St. Bernard and English Mastiff mix and I think it is the coolest cross breed. I have been wanting to see some pictures of one at full grown, but can't seem to find any on the internet. It seems this mix is rare which really surprises me. My pup is 7 months and weighs 117 lbs., does this seem about right? Any info would be appreciated.

That sounds like a really cool cross-breed. Often health problems associated with these breeds are caused by the small population from which they were 'recreated'. Numbers of English mastiffs declined drastically over the course of the world wars and the breed was revived from very few founders. To say that crossing a mastiff with a St. Bernard 'rolls their problems into one' as someone suggested is ridiculous, St. Bernards (Alpine mastiffs) are from the same ancestral stock as English mastiffs and could well introduce some much needed 'outbreeding vigour' to the bloodline. I would love to see some pictures of your dog, I couldn't find any on the web; I went to look at mastiff pups today and saw the most fantastic dog I've ever seen (the stud dog)!

I know where you can find one, I've seen one listed there recently. Go to www.petfinder.com , you can put in what type of dog you're looking for, what age, where you live etc and up comes a listing of shelter and rescue dogs. If you're looking for a mix only put in one of the breeds in the search box, any mixes with that breed will show up.

Good Luck!

Why would someone make that cross intentionally????? Both those breeds have many health problems, why cross them and have all the problems of both rolled into one???????????????
