Dude forget the crowd...Be you. Dont try to be anything but you. Find her alone and start talking. There is something you have in common, find outwhat it is. Project the confidence you dont have. Let her feel like you dont care if she is cool or not, make her feel that she is cool in youreyes but not above you. Be you. If by some chance she doesn't respond well to you being you, then shes not what you want. The most important thing you can learn in life is to be you and love or like someone for who they are. Everything else crowds, looks, what others think of you, its all bullsh!t. Anyone that doesn't like you for you doesn't diserve you.

Don't live your life with regrets... chicken out and don't say anything you will never know if there was a chance... Say something and the worse that can happen is you MIGHT get rejected. Don't say anything then it is a DEFINITE rejection. Go for it, you will be surprised how often you are wrong about what girls think about you. Don't wait until your 20th high school reunion to find out a lot the girls thought you were hot....and you thought you weren't "cool" enough to ask them out.-rob

Just come out in the open and tell her.. You have to face your fears.. Who cares if she is in the cool crowd.. Tell her how you feel and if she likes you too then thats good.. If she doesn't like you just tell her that it is her loss and go on about your way.. Then everytime you see her just ignore her.. Girls hate being ignored..

If you have any chance at all it will only come from how you approach her. Confidence is 90% of what draws a woman to a man, the other 10% is physical attraction. So get totally groomed and strut your stuff.
The next time you see her alone (not with her chums), you confidently walk up to her and give her your calling card*, or you introduce yourself, letting her know of any classes you share to reinforce the introduction.
Confidently give her your number and let her know that you've noticed her and hope that she will give you a call, so you can get to know one another better.
*Calling Card is like a business card, except its used for introductions in the single arena. It contains your name, phone and address on it. You can have a photo on it or not (unless its a great picture, don't).

Forget the "in" crowd" if you like her tell her, face the stuck up people and if they start talking about behind your back tell them what you think! Stick with your friends don't worry about the "in crowd" and this girl if she likes you she'll back off her stuck up ways!
