When fossil fuels become prohibitively expensive, we will stop relying on them. Cost breads invention. I'm personally in favor of hydrogen burning technologies for cars, and nuclear power for electricity. I look forward to the day when my job is obsolete.

That's easy. The newest fuel that works well is made from corn. The only problem is that most of the major oil companies are not producing it in any major amounts. If the government would subsidize it until there is a reasonable amount on the market while also REQUIRING the major auto makers to produce cars to run on it and at the same time stop making cars that run on gas and diesel. Problem solved . It would take some time for most all consumers to have these cars (simply because some never buy new cars) and there will always be a market for gas (classic cars) but that would almost stop the dependency

governents need to start work on long-term solutions. They have to be willing to put money towards bigger projects. For example, Tidal power stations.
I suppose because they can't be sure whether they will be in power when the project ends, they can't be sure of completion.

Alternative energy ( solar power, wind power etc.) More public awareness too.
