"actually you should be. A pilot friend of mine said that if anything is gonna go wrong that they have no control over, it's during take off. Once the jet is at full throttle, this is called the point of no return, meaning, the plane is either gonna get in the air or run off the runway, or fail to make altitude."

Either you misunderstood what he said, or your Pilot friend was pulling your chain ,or he is full of spit.

Once the jet is at full throttle if some thing were to go wrong (to warrant a balked take off) Throttle to idle, hard on the brakes. Plane stops. Reverse thrust helps as well.
If at a certain point on the rwy (with enough length to come to a stop) the plane has not reached sufficient speed to become airborne, Throttle to idle, hard on the breaks, etc. This is determined BEFORE takeoff . This distance varies with weight, temp, humidity , etc.

Takeoffs in commercial airliners are accomplished by using a lot of power from the engines and a high angle of attack (a steep climb angle) in order to get the most altitude in the least time. As the airplane accelerates and climbs your body is being pushed into your seat. After a certain amount of altitude and airspeed is achieved the rates of acceleration and climb are decreased, thus decreasing the sensation of being pushed down and back in your seat. You are probably sensing these decreases in force on your body as a slowing/sinking feeling, or in you words "like the plane is being dragged down". You can be sure that as long as the aircraft is nose up and right side up, all is normal and you are safe.
I hope this helps understand what you are experiencing and overcome your fear.

Dear Amber
I know this feeling very well. I hate traveling in planes and all the time I have the feeling that it will be my end today.
I tried to overcome this feeling throughout the whole flight. I hate the take off and the landing . I look to the people around me in the plane and envy them because they don't fell the same way.
I do nothing but praying and reading Quran .
I need somebody to support me but the air hosts are careless. They get used to this situation and find it silly to be afraid.

That part of the flight just freaks me out knowing it's totally in God's hands and the plane's mechanical function.

Not sure that you can overcome it. You've freaked me out just by mentioning it! I hate flying, not just the take offs, but the whole flight! I just do my best to keep my mind occupied so that I don't have to think about what the plane is doing.

Telling you how to over come fear is easy, doing it is the hard part, just remember, what you feel on take off is the way it is always going to feel unless your in a rocket, so prepare your self in advance for that feeling and remind yourself what it is. Might help.

YES you CAN overcome this feeling. Did you know that the fear of flying is the second most common fear, second only to the fear of heights (which, to me, seems the two are related)
In fact, there is an entire website dedicated to this fear. Please visit http://www.fofc.com for ways to help WITHOUT using alcohol, which can, in some cases, make your fear seem much more exaggerated than the reality. I hope I helped and good luck to you in the future! Here's to happy skies!

I have a girl friend like that. She has a drink first or she can't get on the plane.

You might try a doctor for hypno therapy. Lots of people have problems flying.

You never overcome this feeling. I count backwards from 100 by sevens. It keeps my mind occupied.
