Trying to find my father - know any free websites?

Lost touch with my father 12 years ago. Does anyone know how I can get access to electoral records / birth and death registers / census reports free of charge?? Last time we spoke he in a homeless hostel in Sheffield.

Try www.b4usearch.com using the people tab, look well down the page on the results and it's free!

Works fairly good most of the time.

If this is an American city, start with zabasearch.com to see if his name is anywhere on the lists. Then go to www.rootsweb.com and put his name in the first search engine. That will give you access to the SSDI index (Social Security Death Index). If he's dead, he should be in there.

I don't know how Death registries work in any other country.

try the Salvation army.... or even take a trip to the hostel in sheffield... he might still be in the area.. good luck

If you know his social security number, try the social security website. If you find him listed then it means he has passed on. If not then try doing a search by name in all 50 states.

i woz in the same boat once i woz trying to find my birth familly and i looked them up in the phone book if u know his name you can look him up i woz succesful good luck :) ps go to the hostel in sheffield an ask if they knew who he woz maybe they can help.

http://www.curiousfox.com/ is a genealogy site but I have seen people listing missig relatives on there, I guess it is all about tracing family really!!
