Love your hair and work with what nature gave you.
I am also biracial and it took me a long time to figure out the following secret...
i only wash my hair 2-3 times a week
i don't comb or brush my hair when i'm wearing it curly (it only breaks up the curl and creates frizz)
i use aveda Be Curly and the fixative gel that works with it( someone in the store will be able to tell u which one it is)
and most importantly, air dry.
good luck

Go to a salon and get professional advice. It may be more expensive, but will be worth it in the end. Try an aveda salon...they have awesome products.
(And by the way...ignor ignorant people like ladybugs!)

#3 no brush. only comb when wet. and get regular trims.
