All of the cross trainers I have tried are to heavy and ridgid. Probably a mid rise, or low. What are your experiences? I do treadmill, walking, and step

Yep, I've tried Nike, and NB, and Rebock, and Addis, just about everything. I'm sorry, I should have said, the issue is complicated by the fact, I wear a 5.5 M. It is very hard to find the size to try on.

I found the most incredible pair of shoes about 4 years ago. They were Nike Crosstrainers and the shoe was cut like a mule and then there was a heel strap that was ultra padded and the interior foot part was air compartments and then there was a gel insert. These are the most incredible shoes that I have ever owned and after I gave up on exercising, I retired these shoes to barn work only as they only matched one shirt in my entire closet. They made great shoes for riding horses and doing my barn chores. I am not sure if these are still available but I got them at JCPenny.

Depends on your foot structure, height, and weight.

Rather than finding a shoe based on the shoe weight, try finding the right kind of shoe for YOU.

I use running shoes for everything. I find that they are the most comfortable and light. My favorites are adidas Ozweego Classic. They are fairly reasonable in price. You can find them on adidas.com.
