NO, not immediately. When we die we are asleep in death. The bible says that the dead have no consciousness of anything. Since there is no spirit inside of us that comes out in death (old pagan belief passed onto the Christians thanks to Constantine), we lie in the grave. Death and hell are death, the common grave of all men. It came upon us as a result of the transgression of Adam. What Jesus did was to overcome death and hell by allowing us to resurrected in the near future to live our heaven here on EARTH. This is our home for eternity in peace and tranquility. The earth will be changed to its original state as existed before the time of Adam. The bible says that the meek will inherit the earth. Only a few will go to the heavens as it were, and they will be priests and kings helping to rule over the earth. man was created to live forever on the earth, it is our home. So there is life after death, but not until we are resurrected and that will be during the 1000 years after the coming of Christ and before Satan is loosed for one final try to deceive the people.

The real question is whether there is death?
Life after death is assured, just what kind of life might also be in question. At some point in eternity, if you are bad enough, you could be absorbed into God and no longer exist as you are. More likely is that you will continue as an individual as created until you return to God as a fully realized and individualized being.

We don't know and probably never will do because unfortunately no one has ever died and come back to life not even that magician guy from history the jesus one but anyway we don't know what happens after death and we can't prove any of the theories so none of them are true at this moment in time.

Life after death is really dependant on your personal spiritual values. Many of the religions today subscribe to some sort of afterlife existence; its the one area of religion that Christianity is in the minority. Different religions view the afterlife in separate ways, but they are all valid. Christians mainly believe in a "Heaven" or "Hell", others believe in a merging with the Universal One, yet others follow a belief of reincarnation. Of them all, Christians are the only ones who do not believe in a continuation of life. [Life in heaven does not count as life, as there the conciousness does not grow and learn].

One Man who died and resurrected was Jesus Christ. So it makes sense in beleiving it.If one is really intrested in life after death he/she can read the most read book of all time.It tells about life after death and future to come.
It also tells why very few will believe, what is written in it.Some things from that book are already mentioned in a previous answer.

As soon as you meet someone who has "been there, done that", report back and let everyone know. Oh yeah, make sure the person you talk to isn't pulling some kind of scam.
