I'm American and I'm a follower of Islam... I'm also not African-American, which makes me very unusual at this time. My idea about Islam is that it is very misunderstood, especially by its followers. My idea about Muslims is that many of them are uneducated. They need to be proactive, not reactive. They need to think progressive, not regressive. Allah Akbar! (God is great!)

By the mercy of Allaah, I have been muslim for about 14 years. I am a white american woman, and I freeely chose this way of life. I would have no other for me or my children. I have seen the good and the bad in muslims, as I have seen it in other people of other religions too. I believe, islaam is greatly misunderstood. The media plays a very big part in that with all the propaganda it uses. Think back (those that are old enough to remember) to growing up in the 80's. Do you remember how they made us have a dislike for Russians? (then the Ussr) Alot of the movies made put a bad taste in our mouths for them. Example, Rocky IV.. When he killed apollo creed. Anyways... back to what i was saying... I know, that there are some muslims out there that bring some of this down on all of us(muslims). The reality behind islaam is far different than what it is made to seem to the masses. I think if anyone sincerly wanted to learn about islaam, they would be surprised by the beauty of it all. Just like not all white christians are apart of, or have ever been apart of the KKK, not all muslims want to blow things, or themselves up. Its a few misguided people that go to that extreme.

I have a deep, deep respect for my many Muslims friends. As far as their religion, not my cup of tea but I don't knock it either, it's not my place to bad-mouth anyone's beliefs. I do know that alot of the prejudice against Muslims are unfounded, there are good and bad in every group, just as radical Christians have been known to get on our nerves from time to time don't represent the entire Christian religion and followers, neither should terrorists be seen as the spokespeople of the Islamic tradition.

Islam is a strong religous belief,... where we run into problems is zealots that misinterpet the writings tend to benefit themselves. History finds that people can be led to follow others that possess powerful leading skills (Adolf Hitler, Jim Jones, etc..), and most of them have a hidden agenda that does not reflect the actual teachings of the past. When people become educated to the true teachings of all the original religous leaders, they will "see the light" and be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven. Show me one religous article that actually dictates for us to conquer or destroy one another. There is not one, not the Koran, not the Bible, not the Torah. The basis of religion is to learn tolerance of one another, and respect each other for our differences.

Great, there is nothing like it. Ignorant and arrogant both are deprived, only who lives and tastes Islam knows.
Muslims don't represent Islam today, but earlier Muslims do. See the link:

I think they and every person has the right to believe and practice whatever religion they want to.
If the members of the religion kill others that person/members should be brought to justice.
Care must be taken in recognizing the ones who kill under an implied reason of religion. The ones that use code words and innuendos but they are appealing to the religion beliefs slyly. They are the most dangerous

They are easily led and do not think independently about what they are doing or committing their life to. They do things in the name of Allah that Allah would not wish. They do not critically purge their religion of the bad leadership that cannot be of Allah because it is evil. They are subject to mob rule and follow blindly without thinking.
Incidently, many Christians are very similar. They blindly follow a religion that is an interpretation that is quite different than Christ intended.
