We sent them to the Mexican border to do paperwork and build roads. I thought the National Guard was to "guard and protect" our boarder from intruders. Shouldn't they be doing the job they were created for. Is Bushy boy chicken or what?

Hey mpltmiller...where do you get "civil" out or rape, robbery, murder, smuggleing, and a host of violent acts. Good try....and Bush will be the commander in chief when he starts to chiefly command instead of playing politics. I voted for him ....he's a nice guy...but we need real leadership.
Thanks for your comment.

Exactly right!!!!! Since they are at the border to (supposedly) guard it,then they should be given the means to do so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Along the border, is a VERY dangerous place!! We have had over two hundred incursions just this year,by the mexican military!!!!!!! They HELP the drug runners get drugs into the U.S.

Our border patrol agents have had mexicans shoot at them from across the border!! Not to mention all the ILLEGALS smugglers, who also carry weapons!!!!!
Ranchers along the border NEVER leave their house without a gun, because they have been attacked by illegals!!!

Here in Arizona,(he WORST place for illegal aliens crossing into this country!!!) we probably hear a lot more about what's happening at the border than most people do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're right. They should be protecting the boarder.

Being here illegally may be a civil offense but that is irrelevant.

Guarding the boarder from foreign invasion is a federal responsibility that falls under the jurisdiction of US Customs and there is no legal reason that the National Guard can not be called upon to assist in defending the boarder.

The National Guard is the state militia. When our politicians get off their rump and understand illegal entry is criminal not civil, then their will be no issue.

Sometimes I wonder just how represented we are in Congress. I mean, they are the policy makers for the entire free world, of which we are only one part. Why shouldn't we give up our land, our culture, our jobs, or even if it came down to it, our citizenship, where they see the bigger picture and they tell us it's for our own good?

If Ted Kennedy says we got to stop speaking English and have to speak Spanish how unAmerican is it to go against our leaders of the free world?

Sending our jobs overseas, widening the gap between rich and poor, and allowing America to be colonized by Mexico for La Reconquista is in our best interests, I mean, if it wasn't, they would do something about it to protect us, right?

Your ignorance is impressive.

thank you for also loading your question by mocking the commander in chief.

the reason is that their is a federal law that does not allow the military to enforce civil law. their are exceptions but each of these would open the door for their use to be challenged in court.
