I went to Hurgada last summer. It is fantastic if you scuba dive, but our hotel had quite a small man-made beach. The hotel itself was great, service was exceptional, and the pool was huge and clean. There is the desert behind Hurgada....and not much else. We did a 1 day quad biking trip into the desert, visited a Bedouin village and did some camel racing (!!) which comes highly recommended. The actual town is very small (just a few touristic streets, but it was quaint and lively) There is no nightlife, but that was fine for us, more hours to spend lazing in the (very) hot Egyptian sun. The price of stuff was really cheap - 70p for a box of 20 cigarettes - and food was cheap too, just be careful where you eat as not everywhere is hygenic. It was a great holiday, and I would recommend it, as long as you are not after miles of deserted sandy beaches !

Hurghada is beautiful with lots of hotels and restaurants, yet not too many tourists. The diving is also half that of other places like Sham el Shiekh and Rashmuhammad.
I would definitely recommend Hurghada unless you're willing to fly to Thailand and its many beaches!

I went to Sharm El Sheikh last year and had a really good time, weather was lovely. Booked it on the internet and got a really good deal with a nice hotel called Ocean Bay, just off their main town. My friend went to Hurghada and her husband got really ill, spent weeks in hospital afterwards but then again you can be ill anywhere I suppose. Id love to go back to Egypt. Remember this though, you will get pestered in Egypt by the locals to buy their perfumes from the local shops but dont buy them, their smell dont last, just be polite and carry on walking....

I went to a hotel down in Luxor so I suppose that they are the same. But if you're looking for quality, a relaxing time and willing to stretch your budget a bit then look for Sheraton or Meridian hotels.
