All heated appliances damage your hair. GHDs are just better because they straighten more hair in less strokes, so you're not using as much heat on your hair.
If you want to protect your hair from heat damage, use a heat protection spray. I recommend Toni and Guy, because it doesn't have an overwhelming smell of alcohol like all the others. The mini version is £1.59 from Boots.

All straighteners cause some kind of damage. If you put heat on your hair, it's going to become dry. But GHD straighteners are supposed to be better than others because they have ceramic plates which offer some kind of protection to the heat.
I find that if I use them and then wash my hair, it's a bit straighter than normal after washing so I don't need to straighten it again immediately.
Just make sure to use lots of conditioner and other products to restore the moisture back into the hair and you'll be fine.

They are good, and no matter how much you pay they still damage your hair.
I feel that the ghd's make you hair very static and do show split ends. Also i have had a few friends, and they have exploded not long after 6 months so keep a guarantee
I use Morphy Richards and they are very good, and leave your hair with a glossy finish.

Well GHD straighteners are very good but it will damage your hair over time. All heat appliances that you use on your hair will damage your hair esp. the new straighteners 'WET TO STRAIGHT'. Many straighteners end up givin you split ends if you use them too often!!
I hope that helps!!

Yes they are really good, I have babyliss cheap ones too which bought when forgot to pack on business trip and they are no where near as good.
You need to use product to reduce the damage, I have been using for 4 years, always wash and condition hair with PH neutral products and hairdresser always says hair in great condition, just delayed hair cut to 11 weeks as in such good condition :-)

Any heat appliance damages your hair over time. You need to ensure that you protect your hair before using them.
I personally use Hang Straight by Aveda - smells good, works well & is good to the environment.
Good luck
