This person has a court appearence for an offence which is not too serous. His main worry is having his name on the papers and worries what people that know him : He is aware they will judge him and see him in a different light. My question is..would it be possible to keep his name from being published and if so how do you go about it..?Thanks

Let's put it this way; How much is it worth to him to Not have his name appear in the paper? The local papers' silence can usually be bought, if need be, but it Is a matter of public record so he's pretty much on his own there & besides, if it's not a significant matter, the paper shouldn't be even considering it newsworthy unless you're in West Podunk somewhere. Besides, anyone who would judge him by/for it shouldn't be considered a friend or worth his (or yours, for that matter) time of day, unless it's a peculiarly heinous crime!

If you don't like the penalty don't do the crime.
Court processes are public record and newspapers are even required in some districts to publish them.
If it's a speeding ticket, no problem. If he held up a liquor store or committed a sex-related crime then maybe he needs the embarassment.

in our hometown you cant even get caught without a seatbelt or your citation will be in the paper.ex: JANE DOE FAILURE TO WEAR SEATBELT FINE: 10.00. case in point my husband was in front page every day for a week over a drug charge first offence every aspect of his charge was printed from his arrest all the way to his incarseration. i feel that thats invasion of privacy but like the saying goes "DONT DO ANYTHING YOU WOULDNT WANT PRINTED IN A NEWSPAPER" AND IN OUR CASE ON THE NEWS AND ON THE RADIO TOO.
