I thought it was 6 months too. He is 4 1/2 months and getting really aggressive towards me, and my little sister who is 3. I dont want any accidents to happen, so would like to get him castrated as soon as possible to calm him down.

The six week suggestion - I have never heard of this... Maybe it is different where I am in the UK?

No you can have a male cat nuetered as early as three months. As soon as you notice the cat has dropped. (you can see his manhoods) Most vets believe the earlier you have a male cat nutered the better it is because then he doesnt get a chance to start spraying

I volunteer for a cat shelter and they will have the kittens spayed/neutered when they have reach a minimum of two pounds. The litter of kittens I fostered last fall reached that point at around 9 weeks I think. I was previously told kittens couldn't be spayed/neutered untill there were 4 months or 6 months, but I think that's waiting too long. Your veterinarian wouldn't neuter your male kitten unless he weighed enough.

Before you will do it - you have to think! First: you will deprive your cat a happiness of life (I saw an eyes...) In second - most likely your cat all the life will have problems with kidneys (to feed only by special meal)
Certainly better not earlier 6 months for normal maturity of your fluffy friend (with castration a maturity will stopped). Look exactly - may be any of your games with this kitten are the reason of aggressive relation for you? May be you have instigate your kitten? Not all so easy...Your choice...

Im pretty sure you have to wait til he's 6 months old. It might be earlier as castrations are less serious then female spayings - its quite a quick and easy operation for the male of the species!

I work for an organization that rescues homeless kittens and we "fix" the kittens when they reach a certain weight, not age. The weight determines whether they can handle the surgury.

Minimum weight is 2 pounds - cats are usually about 8 weeks when they are 2 pounds.

At around 6 months or when the kitten has reached sexual maturity, where his testes have descended. A vet will be able to check this out for you and advise.

I have neutered kittens at around 5 months, but haven't done it earlier. Get your vet to check him out.

When I adopted my kitten from the Humane Society shelter they said it is best to wait around 6 months.

From 4 to 6 months depending upon a few other factors...you and your vet will make this decision.
