on some bridges there are 2 or 3 cameras faceing the same direction. what is it used for?

I think they are just used to monitor the traffic flow. There is a database of traffic conditions run, I think, by the AA or the RAC. They sometimes have displays up in Motorway Service Stations showing the road conditions on motorways throughout the country. I imagine that that is what at least some of the cameras are there for.

These camera are used for suicide watch! we have them in our town because people have been known to jump off!! a few years back the summations would walk back and forward over the bridge at night to keep watch but these days they use cameras and if the suspect someone could jump they send the police!!
