Not me. Did the Hatfeilds and the McCoys battle over religion? Or isn't that big enough to qualify to be listed in his history book. How many deaths, does it take? How about the war in Viet Nam? Or was that just a police action? I think Mr. Bradshaw should have said, "Religion is responsible for every war known to 'this' man."

I have to agree with the answerer above. Perhaps Religion is not the cause, but the cover. "Differences" perhaps are the cause. To analyze most religions we find we all have the same final "Hope." Ok sure....the path getting there may be vastly different, but in the end, we all have the same "Hope."
If we decide to call all practices and daily rituals along this path..."religion," then perhaps yes......Bradshaw's quote is true. But greed, power, control.....these practices are what drive us to war. If we practice greed and entitlement to power daily......that could certainly be referred to as "our religion." So if interpreted this way. The quote is true.
But even the wars we fight today claim to have begun from religious differences. But look at circumstances today. The "cover" of religion has long disappeared........and the power of control stands much taller.
*shrugs* just a thought.

I don't know that I would agree it is religion, but the truth is that greed is responsible for every war, and religion is a good way to get masses to support someone's greed.

Religion has a defenition in the Bible(true religion as it is called) and it might be something you didn't expect...the plans and ideas behind organizations that appeared to be 'religious' is another thing, as is people who do things while mentioning some texts.

Only if the concept of religion can be stretched to encompass the worship of power, gold, oil and other peoples' women. Not to mention salt and water rights.

actually, religion is just the excuse for them. the basic reason is greed. Land, money, gold, oil... doesn't matter what they want to get. There's other people there, who are in the way. Guess what, they believe in something else - so let's kill them in the name of god. And when nobody is looking, take their gold and oil and land.
Convenient, isn't it?
