First of all No reputable police department will perform a background check for you. They might run the person and tell you if he is wanted or not but as for giving you information about their past is highly illegal. If you belive this person has a criminal past most criminals have served their time and accordinngly have repaid their debt to society. Therefore their past is none of your business UNLESS THE INDIVIDUAL IS A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER that is required to register as such, in this case under megans law you are entitled to the name of the individual, convictions, descrptions etc. you can obtain this information by contacting your local law enforcement agency. If you are dying to find out your neighbors past just becuase you are nosey you can pay 15-50 dollars and run a internet background check but for this to be accurate you need that persons name, date of birth social.

Pretty easy to find the information if you know the person's name and approximate age. Most states have a correctional agency website. For instance, here in Georgia, we have the Georgia Department of Corrections website. Just google the website for your state. More likely than not, you will be able to search the inmate query for that person and determine if he or she has been incarcerated. If the person has never been to prison, but to jail, then you would have to check your local jail, which probably, if it's a larger city, has it's own website and inmate search.

If the person has committed a crime that you know of report them to the police, If they have committed a crime in the past and paid for their mistake then leave them alone. Still stay observant but don't start a which hunt against someone who might or might not be a criminal or might just be trying to change they life. Everyone deserves the chance to reform.

hmmm... if he/she is a known criminal, then surly you know already, dont you? why not just have a kangaroo court, go vigilanty and buisy yourself in other peoples lifes to make you feel better about your's. The acusation of being a criminal is a bit thin anyhow... i parked illeagily recently and forgot to renew the insurance on my car (I was running it for a hole week before i realised). I'm glad youre not my naighbour.

If you don't know who the person is, how do you know they are a known criminal? The easiest way is to walk into your nearest Police station and ask, but they may not tell you anyhow. Otherwise you have to get names and then do some research (local papers / internet etc).

If he has commited a crime against you, then file a report and inform the police of your suspicions. If he hasn't done anything to you, then it really isn't your business.

Find out his name and google it.
Search through "wanted" databases. Call the police and ask them if there is a criminal or tell them you think there is one. They'll check it out to find out. I'd do it anonymously though!

No, unless you know his name and research it, you might find some press coverage surrounding his illegal activities if they were anything worth reporting about.
