I have a "mutt," I prefer to call her mixed breed. I adopted her from a shelter in Glocester, MA. She was from Puerto Rico, part of the Save a Sato program, where they ship abused street dogs to the US to be rescued. She is part dalmatian part pointer, she is white with black spots, and her name is Julie, short for Julissa the name they gave her at the shelter.

oh yea, i had mutts growing up, i had a pitbull/boxer and something else mix named duke i grew up with him i would ride him, and i could take food right from under him and he would just look at me and wag his tail i had him from 1 yr to 10 yrs old, we had to put him down, he had arthritis and couldnt walk any more my dad would have to carry him outside to go potty, then we had a poodle peekapoo mix, which when i was young, that was just a mutt (now a days they call it a 'designer' dog) her name was prissy, and i still have a haso-laso shitzu mix named chester, he's about 12 they were are are ALL great dogs, i wouldnt have traided them for the world. ALL shelter dogs too

We had a lovely "mutt" called Wellington, 'cos it looked like he was wearing black boots on his little paws. He was a mix of Fox Terrier and Sausage dog!!!
Another was Hilly, mix breed German Shepherd and Podenco (Spanish hunting dog) - he was lovely, we named him Hilly 'cos he just turned up from the hills one day and we kept him.
We have always had "mutts", they seem to be more sweet natured and loving. Especially if they are from a shelter or "adopted", then they really appreciate the TLC you give them.

When I was a kid we had a mongrel, we called her Judy & she was the loveliest dog in the world. Really sweet tempered, if i ever got another dog it would be a mutt.

thru out my life of 27 years my family has owned 4 pure breeds out of 15 dogs.
All were great. but the best has to be my puppy who is 10 years old chow/shepard/akita/?/mix. Buster, still trying to figure out what he is. Really wish i never would have gotten him fixed, because he is going to kill me when he goes. I've even thought of cloning him, gawd i love that dog!

i have had a mutt named oliver and he was one of the smartest dog i've ever known. i believe he had a bit of german sheperd and labrador in him. he was not given any formal behaviour training while he was a puppy but still he picked up the manners so effectively that never once we had to corrected him. as a puppy he did all those things that puppies do but once i correct him with kind words he never repeated them throughout his life. even when he was old and was really weak he never did his things in the house. oliver never did things that had to be corrected. he was such a darling and a very brave dog. he was of medium built. once when we were out a big germen sheperd charged at us and they way he held that dog off was really astonishing. he lived to an age of 15yrs. when he finally died he left a void in me. he was simply the best dog i've ever had and i'll ever have. right now i've labradors and dobermans and they are all smart and loving dogs. but none of them compares to my oliver. i've known dogs all my life and have never come across one thats as smart as oliver.
