It is levening for the bread. It comes in dry form and it comes in cakes. In dried form it comes in an envelope (usually a foil envelope) - it is a course power. In cake form is is somewhat (though not exactly) like a cake of soap.
Buy it in the supermarket. The dry form will be on the same aisle as the bread mixes and the flours. Yhe cake form should be refrigerated.

Local bakers may well let you have some fresh yeast, talk to them nicely they may give you some instruction too. Shops often sell packets of dried yeast for baking.
Yeasts occur on naturally, eg on the skin of apples. It is possible to cultivate your own, each yeast will be slightly different in smell taste & performance. Once you have a fresh yeast you like save some of the bread dough as a "mother" for your next batch.

It's a fungus, it's needed to make the dough rise basically.
Comes in dry and regular form. Dry looks like little grains almost, a few mm long. Regular is kind of paste like, but solid. It's beige-brown-ish.
Where you can buy it depends on the country. In some countries it's available in any supermarket (it's to be kept cold so look in the refrigerators), in other countries it's basically not available at all. Try the local supermarket, if they don't have it ask them if they know where you might find it, or go to a health food store or bakery and ask there.

you go up to a girl who just came out of a clinic, and ask to do it with her... maybe you can find some yeast... If you want to buy it, there are people who stand on corners, pay to have sex with them, they might have some... Happy Yeast Hunting!!
