Go to the setting on your sound card.
There is a check box, on one of the tabs (depending on the driver) for "show on task bar".
Failing that... find VOLUME CONTROL and create a shortcut to it... and keep it on your desktop or in your quick links.

Start-->Control Panel Now depending on the layout of your Control Panel... Hardware and Sound-->Sound or Sound Then Playback (tab)-->Click on your speakers-->Properties Should be an option here... If you're using Vista/7 Right-click the taskbar (or Superbar as called in 7) Properties Notification Area Check volume

mine does that a lot. What you need to do is open your control panel. Click on sounds and devices. You will see a box that says place volume icon in taskbar if it's already checked uncheck it and recheck it then push apply. Should work.

if u r running windows XP go to control panel and then sound.
In the middle of the item check add "place volume in icon bar.
that should do it....
