The church of england is the second biggest land owner in the uk. Why, now , with church attendances dwindling , sell some of their land, stop begging for money, and enable houses and flats to be built on this land? Mabye then with fewer churches , there would be the illusion that they are fuller! And they can mend all them leaky roofs ....

The strange thing is that a lot of the land the church owns is either uninhabitable, because of it previous or current use as a cemetery or already has homes built upon it. The issue of Church's begging for money is incorrect they could sell some of or more of their residential properties, the age of a lot of the Church's leads to a higher then normal cost for repairs because they have to pay for specialists to do the work. If only it was a simple case of slapping on a couple of tiles then for a couple of hundred pounds each church they would not have to ask for donations to support the crippling costs.

Because much of the land was given to the church as part of peoples wills, and legally due to some random archaic law, we are unable to sell the land.

Heratic!!
Money is required to teach the unworthy (such as yourself)!! the ways of the Lord!! The trappings of the church do not come cheap, nor should they! People must learn to contribute to our church leaders, if it were not for us you would be sharing your wealth among peasants and such other low life's! We can redirect your wealth towards the benefit of all mankind!
You will be visited soon by the Knights of the Holy Order in an attempt to show you the error of your ways!!
Hope this helps in your enquires??

uh... if they took away a church it would affect the people that went to that church because they would have to go to a different place to worship... anyway where did u get the thought that churches had leaky roofs?? We dont need illusions to make them look full... we have enough people!!
