Either because:
They are jealous/insecure, and try to control / put down their partner to feel re-assured. In which case the reciprient should show more affection, kindness and understanding
Or
They do not really care that much - in which case the reciprient needs to back off and see if their partner realises how much they care when they think they are losing you. Being more caring in this case will turn the partner off even more
Since you don't know how best to be, the trick is to back off, seem less interested and regain your personal power...
If they treat you better now you know it was because they did not care that much.
But if they get even more hurtful you know it was due to insecurity and you can then turn on the love.....

because they are told that's the way to keep their lovers attracted to them- as in, if a guy acts too wussy she will go off him however nice he is; many girls think they are better than this but reality often shows them doing exactly the opposite! This makes men naturally competitive and ....a bit horrible. Women are already quite competitive but keen to display their niceness as it biologically makes them look like great potential mothers, caring and nurturing.Relationships become a battleground of all this, even if quite subliminally.

some girls and guys only think about themselves and do not appreciate thier bf/gf. guys and girls should treat their bf/gf with nothing but respect and love. this only comes naturally to couples who are deeply i love with one and other. of course not all guys and girls do this but thier is quite a lot i used to be treated really badly by guys and them i was beginning to think that it was normal until i found my boyfriend Arron he treats me with nothing but love and respect we cherish every moment spent together and he would never treat me badly weve been together for one year and every day feels like the beginning. our relationship is solely based on love, respect and admiration and its incredible and undescribable how in love we are. if you are talking from personal experience you will find someone special who treats you with respect. good luck

Some people have serious issues within themselves. Alot of times because of this, they take out their hurt or anger on the person closest to them! Not everyone needs to be in a relationship!

i can never understand disgusting, ignorant, mean, horrible people and i dont know why people do it. maybe they get a kick out of getting away with it and walking all over people. the main thing is that if you are treated badly, you dont allow it to continue.

some guys and girls can truely love someone but just don't know how to show it and they get frustrated and abuse people they love. the reason they do this is because thats all they have been shown so being nice to them helps them to learn to belive in people again......
