the answer to all of those is yes. In that respect, religious philosophy is very self-centered. After all, why would a squirrel believe that some OTHER less squirrely creature was made in God's image? (unless squirrels had no egos like humans do, of course)

Squirrels in Louisiana do have religion. They fear the second death "The Lake of Gumbo". But many of them wonder can god be a god of love while he allows this slaughter every fall. How can god allow so many pick up trucks to display the tails of their desist loved ones on the radio antennas. Is it because 10% of the squirrels are "black squirrels" and judgment has come upon them all? Or maybe the ones who slip around in secret robbing from the starving birds fund (feeders). Small wonder god sends the hounds of hell after them, to pursue them everywhere they go. Some of the squirrels have some insane doctrine and believe squirrels can fly...preposterous, no squirrel in his right mind would take such a leap of faith. One squirrel was quoted as saying "I don't believe in a squirrel god, isn't it obvious we all came from groundhogs"?

They do its called Scientology. Ron L Hubbard was one of the biggest squirrels I ever seen. His followers are "squirrelly" they just don't know it.
Squirrels are very proud and narrow minded. They only believe what they read in The Book of Rodent. Few of them can "think outside the box." They only regurgitate verses from their squirrelly book and think its their own thoughts.
Walnuts 12:4 states, " If a rodent blasphemes they holy squirrel there will be gnashing of the poodle spaniel mixes teeth for all eternity.
Acorns 31:4 states, " Verily, verily I say unto these that none shall enter through the heavenly knot hole until I am sacrificed by the exterminators and placed in a Hefty trash bag and in 3 days ( actually more like 2 days.) will rise again and chew on my nuts.

It might involve the World Tree. The Great Tree might be their Mother or Father. The nuts are like manna from Heaven. They would have some expression of their hoarding/burying food instinct. Dogs may be the Evil Ones whom they must scold from the safety of the Tree. That's the Animist stage. At some point they will begin to bury their dead and give remembrance to their special dead. From these remembrances will emerge deities that resemble squirrels.

Supposing that squirrels had had enough gray matter to devise the idea of a deity, there would likely be a variety of different religions and deities of all shapes, sizes, and species.

You stated God created squirrels so your defense on evolution would still be false!

I suppose they'd have to have sentience if they were to have religion. Then they'd probably be tree worshippers, don't you think? Little rodent druids. They'd probably start getting really schemy, too, and breaking into warehouses full of nuts. They would obviously have to contend with humans, so they'd either deify or villify us. I'm going with villify.

So... The Great Tree is their god, and The Evil Human is their Satan. But eventually some of them would outgrow all that and start asking questions on Y! Answers, like, "If beetles had religion..." ;)
