The first time you are frightened half to death, it leaves you with half your life. The second time cuts that half in half again- you are left with a quarter of your life left. This process can continue, with one's life growing smaller and smaller, but you may not actually die from the fright at all.
Probably though, when you're down to about 1/32 of your life, it's not hard to be frightened completely to death, and that would be the end of it. This is why I think people of a nervous disposition should take it easy as much as they can, and avoid jobs in haunted places or the Ministry of Surprise :)

Scientifically speaking,you would keep losing 1/2 your life each time you were frightened,like Buzzard said and your life would not end because there will always be a 1/2 left,no matter how small.
But in real life,if you lost the first 1/2 once, then it stands to reason that you lose the 2nd 1/2 when frightened again...because we are assuming that after the 1st fright,you're only 1/2 alive...
Just a figure of speech anyway..

1/2 of 1/2 is a quarter, 1/2 of a quarter is an eighth. You would never actually die from it. Trust me I tried it on my ex.
