A self delusional lie?

Love is only an illusion if it's one-sided. If you find someone who loves you as much as you love them, there's no better feeling in the world. Everyone you meet will be able to see that love between you, and that right there is no illusion.

I once had a old woman whose daughter I was dating tell me what she thought of Love. She said love was nothing but a thought in the head and a thump in the butt. Told me then that she could prove it. She ask me " If she ( her daughter) didn't have what she has between her legs would you want to be with with her?" Honestly I answered no. She then ask her daughter the same question about me, she also answered No. She looked at us and said There you have it. But I did find out later there is true Love, I think it is when you honestly care more for someone else, than you do yourself. When you never want to be apart from this person, cant get enough of this person. No Love is no illusion it is real, sometimes one sided, sometimes painful but not a illusion. Still she has to have the right equipment, and know how to run it.

"Love" is a hormonal response common to mammals.
Its main function is keeping mates together long enough to copulate, reproduce, and safeguard the offspring until it's ready to rinse and repeat.

Is it an "Illusion", though?
That depends entirely on your interpretation. Love is what it is - it exists as a chemical reaction in an organism with many different physical and emotional repercussions. If one were to poetically describe the melodramatics associated with human love, one is not speaking directly on love, but instead of one's experience with it. Love is not an illusion, any more than an adrenal rush is.
If love is taken to be some binding force contained within the universe, one would be correct to call it an illusion.

LOVE is sometimes joy and sometimes pain.

LOVE causes the weak to walk through fire and the strong to tremble at the knees.

LOVE can warm the coldest heart, yet cool a raging fire.

LOVE is not a substance that we can hold in our hands, yet we feel it running thru our veins.

LOVE can not be contained, yet...in our heart,
it thunders.

If Love was a choice, who would choose such exquisite pain.

Is love an illusion? I don't think so....its as real as the wind. You can't see it but you can feel it when it moves.

One of my favorite sayings is "You like someone for who they are, but you love someone in spite of it." And that's true. Love is unconditional, it's forgiving, it's an unbelievable combination of ecstacy and pain. Lust is a hormonal response, and there have been studies recently tracking the release of certain chemicals in the brain during the first stages of love (side note - chocolate releases the same chemicals in a woman's brain that an orgasm does!), but that chemical reaction wanes in 2-4 years, and love is what lasts after the chemicals are gone and you know that you can spend every day talking to the same person and never, ever get bored with them.

If you know what it is, and you experience it, then it is not an illusion...
The best definition I've heard is:
"Love is the UNCONDITIONAL CARE AND CONCERN for the well being of something other than yourself."

A story book, they live happily ever after. For most it's the beginning of lies, betrayal.
