Well, first of all, while on a computer, use the spell check so you don't spell 'grammar' as 'grammer'. This is a common mistake though.

Then, do just as everyone here has recommended: READ, READ, READ! Also, be sure to read different genres of materials so that you are exposed to multiple types of structure as well as complex vocabulary: IE: classical literature and poetry vs. science fiction.

I would also visit some of the suggested websites for some editing practice. Another one that I haven't seen suggested here is Dave's ESL Cafe. You may wish to become pen pals with a native English speaker as well. Note however, that there will be a vast difference in the English you encounter with a British person vs. an American, vs. Indian, etc. You may wish to have several pen pals so you gain exposure to all the different dialects. I would not mind corresponding with you if you so desire. I am a bilingual teacher with five years experience, and never mind helping someone who is seriously intent on learning another language.

Good luck to you!

Everyones been saying reading cause they are right. I really don't know a better way to improve writing. When I was a kid, I read ALL the time. I mean I remember going to the library like every week to get a book. And then in middle school/high school I kind of stopped. I guess I thought it wasn't that cool or something. I mean I read once in a while, just not as much.

It wasn't until we really started to write long essays, research papers, etc that I realized how much all that reading did for me. My grammar had always been great (although it took me a while to realize why). I finally did realize that's where I got all my writing skills/vocabulary from. And after taking the SAT's and just doing so great on the writing section.....I'm glad that I read so much. It really helped. Which is why I'm reading a lot again.

You can always get web links by using any search engine like yahoo, google.
Personally, I suggest the followings:
1) For good writing, you must have a good knowledge of English grammer, book by Wren and Martin is the best.
2) Read a lot, daily read newspaper (Times of India, in India) uses words which can enrich your vocab..
After grammer, it's the beauty of the word that showcase you English writing skill.
Words must not very hard for others, keep that in mind.

I am not sure about my writing skills but I read a lot, and still read Grammer. I am 27.

For openers, read the question just posted about gerund vs. infinitive. You want to know the way to improve English writing skills.

I have listed a couple of web sites below. But the main thing is practice with a well-educated native speaker. Write letters (emails) to an experienced secretary or editor. Check out my 360 page and see if you want to use me for your pen pal. Check out anyone here who seems to be consistently correct in their questions and answers. Most people who love English will be happy to help.

Reading is a great way to start. Not necessarily books (but that should be one of your main resources). It doesn't really matter what kind, just one that interests you. You can also go to online writing forums and correspond with the people there (they tend to have good grammar skills). Keeping a journal/diary/notebook and just practicing your writing on the daily basis would help a great deal also.

easy practice read, study techniques, write, write and write. Practice makes perfect take any writing short or long you choose read it try to pin point what part of the text you liked. was it the the vocabulary, the phrases, punctuation, tone of the writing and try to develop one of yours because writing is very much like conversation and do not look at it as a task but as a reflex. good luck.

Economically. the cheapest way is to read.
If funds are no concern then commuinity college would be a great place to learn basics.
once you have the basics.

then only through constant practice do you teach yourself.to edit, and form and present clear ideas.
