Good Morning! You mentioned that you are religous, this may be part of the problem. Jesus warned us to beware of religous leaders, and He was persecuted by them. Most religions of this day and age, would still not welcome Him, in my humble opinion. Now to the point:

Jesus said if you ask anything, of The Father, through His name, with just a small measure, of faith, you will receive it. Try getting on your knees, confessing your sins to God, asking Jesus to truly enter your heart, and to give you faith. The New Testament also says we have not because we ask not. Ask Him, and I am sure He will answer.

Another reason may be that you are not truly surrendered to Jesus. You may have went through the motions, but did you truly ask Jesus to enter your heart, be Lord of your life, and surrender everything to Him?

Your works may be lacking. The Bible clearly states that "Faith without works, is dead." Dont get me wrong, works wont save you, but they will increase your faith. God's word says it. Try to do more for the Kingdom of God. Help someone, or some people. Be nice to someone whom every one else is mean to. Volunteer at a local charity, homeless shelter, or a mission. Knock on doors, and spread the Good News. If you feel too shy to do this, hand out tracts. There are many ways to work for God. Look around, they are not hard to see.

Lastly, you are still young. Your testimony may not be developed enough. You are being bombarded with the ways of the world, where the path of destruction is. The world is saying belief in Christ is ridiculous, and that man is his own god. Everywhere you turn, you see evil, and blasphemy. Until you are gropunded in your belief in Christ, these worldly matters will cause you to have doubts.

Read your Bible, and pray, each and every day. Try to learn as much as you can from the Bible, it is your sword, a part of the armour every Christian needs. Get grounded in God's Word, learn things on your own, dont wait for someone to teach them to you. You will be waiting a long time to learn what you need, if you rely on a religion, or on any other person to teach you. In The Book of James, God tells us, if we lack wisdom, to ask of Him, and He will give it to us.

I hope this helps. Its really early, and I just learned, at 3:15 that my step dad has died. His passing was horrible. He had liver cancer, and was in extreme pain, especially the last 4 days. However, I know, for a fact, he settled his eternal issue, with God, and that when his eyes closed here, they opened in paradise, and he is not hurting anymore, and that he never will hurt again, because of the fact that he surrendered his heart and life to Jesus Christ.

If I can be of further help, please send me an email. I will be glad to help.

Yours Truly,
Old Soldier

P.S. Dont get me wrong about religion. Not all are off the track. Settle your issues with God, and find a truly Bible based church, where you feel comfortable. The Bible says, "you will know them by their fruit", seek and find out the character of the church, before you join, just dont stop seeking and become a lone ranger Christian. The Bible says that we are to not "forsake the gathering of ourselves", so be sure to find a good Bible based church. God Bless you!

There is hope for you to get on the right track. Part of what you need to do is get away from other people and seek it on your own. If you were to hang out in places like this looking for guidance then you will ultimately end up just becoming more and more lost not because of the discussions of faith or the atheists but because of the foolish things said by peole claiming to be religious. They will make you feel dumb for having the same faith as them. The key is that you seek, you and you alone. But you can still ask questions to others, but know that they can only point in the direction of the truth and never really explain it words.

What makes you think that you are on the wrong track? Ever know that you were doing something wrong in your gut, but didn't listen to it? Same feeling, isn't it?

Ask your questions and look for answers. If your religion is the truth, it will stand up to scrutiny. Don't let anyone tell you what to think one way or the other. Read everything you can. Hang out here a little. Ask your questions here. There's nothing sinful about having questions, and you should be wary of anyone or anything that says otherwise.

With all due respect, at 17 you are still learning. Don't limit yourself, but don't feel pressured to claim a belief one way or another. You have plenty of time to decide what makes you comfortable, no reason to hurry.

I am an atheist, but only became so in my mid 30's after studying the bible and religion for many years.

Don't push yourself and you'll come to settle on a belief or non-belief some day.

It will be an interesting journey, always keep an open mind and honest curiosity and you'll be okay.

Get Strong's exhaustive concordance of the Bible. Look up words like hell, soul, and spirit. Before you read those verses ask God to help you understand. Then ACT on what you learn. Use your concordance to look up EVERYTHING anyone says about the Bible. Read the ten "commandments" in Exodus 10.Read to see if the Bible is saying they are "concepts" or commandments. Especially the Sabbath. Either the Bible will be your authority or some church will. The smarter choice is the Bible regardless of all the uneducated babble about it. Those people just don't WANT it to be true.

You're at a pretty normal age to be asking those types of questions you should realize though that everyone will present to you their idea's and swear that those idea's are right but in the end no one really knows for sure. That certainly doesn't mean there cannot be peace the trick is to find answers to those questyions that ring true to YOU. For myself I found those answers in "new thought" philosaphy you can check out info on wikipedia about it.
Happy hunting

You are on the right track. It's good to have questions. To find the answers we have to ask the questions.

Yes you need someone who will answer your questions and if you are not satisfied with the answers given dig deep sometimes the answer is within ourselves or at the tip of our nose and we fail to see it.

NEVER doubt HIS existence in your life though. HE is ALWAYS there.

Because if God really exists and if God's intention was for you to believe in him, he would have never given you the doubt for you to ask this question. Truth can be brutal and painful. You have a choice to live happily, or to live to know the truth. Most people choose the first one because it's easier.
