I am not sure which to be more amused by ,1 the fact you don't know why a cat will lick himself DUH can he use a facecloth and soap, or, 2 that you are watching him lick himself for over 10 minutes.

Cats are vain animals. He is just grooming himself. They often do that after a meal or a visit to the litter pan.

This is completely normal...cats sometimes clean themselves for half an hour or more. They are very clean creatures and thrive on their cleanness. Hope this explains it

when was the last time you saw a cat take a shower? that was.
unlike stupid dogs who NEED to be bathed, cats take care of their own hygiene.

Cats hate to have other smells on them, and they are picky about how their fur feels, it has to be just right, and they are just really weird.
