Time heals all wounds. Be patient, and do things that take your mind off of her. If that isn't working because everything you do, you say "I remember when we did this together", then go to your local strip club, but don't be a mope. And don't think you are going to get lucky with a stripper, because there is a 99% chance that you won't. Spend some dough and get a couple of dances and you won't be thinking of her, I'll bet.

Getting over your gal is going to hurt. It might take some time. These are the best bits of advice I can give, as we are all different, and we all get over things in different ways. Me, I mostly prefer to be left alone to deal with my grief. But one thing that I know will make me feel better is to do something nice for someone else. It doesn't have to be someone you know, either.

Hope that helps.

After 7 years, I would suggest just taking a break from dating for awhile and go do things you like to do. Just something to keep busy so that you don't think about her as much. Also, find a good friend to talk to and hang out with, they are you're best bet.
Don't ignore her calls or anything like that if she does call. Pick up and talk civilized, but dont go bragging that you got a new girlfriend or doing the whole " I Love you! I Miss You! Come back To Me PLEASE!!" bit, if she asks how your doing or what you been up to, just say "Just trying to keep busy.." or something similar. Theres no real best way to do anything bud, you just gotta do your best to try and carry on.

I know its easier said then done, but you have to move on. Just go out, hang out with your friends. I mean, is she gonna come back if you dwell on it forever? No. There isn't a point to dwell then. Just try your hardest. Go relax, do what you love to do. Golf, play basketball, surf, whatever you do.

For me, the best thing for after a break up is pampering yourself. Then the next thing I would suggest is go on vacation.
