Here in Indiana, when our local dept issues a take-home car, the Officer is allowed to add any additional lights, approved equipment, etc. The cars here do not come with hubcaps or rims, so many Officers put on chrome caps and beauty rings at their own expense, which are nothing like spinners and do make the cars look better. I have yet to see spinners, except on some of the undercover (formerly seized) narcotics vehicles. I would bet anything on the fact that tax dollars are not paying for spinners. Most departments can barely pay for Kevlar vests, much less spinners for patrol cars. Ask your department's PIO for verification.

Well I should hope they are using their own money for those unnecissary accessories...and man if they were in my town someone would probably get up the gull to steal them lol...and I sure wish someone would because that really is stupid and yea it would really make me irrate to see that heck my car doesn't even have spinners on it and believe me I wouldn't want them. Yea it's VERY unprofessional and believe me you if you or I got pulled over by one of those ego maniacs and we made a sarcastic remark about it our ticket would probably be double what it woulda been had we pretended we didn't notice...which would probably pay for them in the case of tax dollars being used.
Man that really is unprofessional and I definately think I'd be taking that to a higher command to try and ban that crap.

I agree with you 100%. But to check on this you can contact the city or town hall. If they don't have an answer rest assured they can get an answer. When I say the city hall, I mean like the mayors office.

They may have been seized in a raid or stolen property that was never claimed. Did they put them on the DARE car or just regular police cruisers?

I suggest you find out how your tax $ is spent. Where I used to live the cops bought their OWN patrol cars.
