I've been reading a lot lately about the fact that the original research into fluoride protecting our teeth was funded by the aluminium industry, who had a problem finding a way to dispose of the harmful biproduct, fluoride. Some countries have stopped putting fluoride in the water due to proven increased cavities in children, but it is also in our toothpaste, and countries like Australia still put it in our drinking water and promote it as being protective to our teeth. If you start to research it, you will find it is actually harmful to our teeth and overall health.

How many people are aware of this, and do you know of any plans to cease putting it in the water?

Yet another example of the government making decisions for us!And the flouride is just the tip of a huge iceberg!
There is the wide use of MSG in our foods, and it is slowly poisoning America.if you think you'll be safe if you read the labels,Think again !Foods that didn't have MSG had something called Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate.
And then :Could Mad Cow Disease Already be Killing Thousands of Americans Every Year?AlreCattle remains are still boiled down and legally fed to pigs (as well as chickens) in this country.hundreds of thousands of downer pigs, too sick or crippled by injury to even walk, arrive at U.S. slaughterhouses every year.CJD has also, surprisingly, been significantly linked to exposure to animal products in fertilizer, sport fishing and deer hunting in the U.S., and frequent exposure to leather products.Until the federal government stops the feeding of slaughterhouse waste, manure, and blood to all farm animals, the safety of meat in America cannot be guaranteed. The current generation of genetically modified (GM) crops unnecessarily risks the health of the population and the environment. The list goes on and on!

For over five decades, the American Dental Association has continuously endorsed the fluoridation of community water supplies and the use of fluoride-containing products as safe and effective measures for preventing tooth decay.

The only generally accepted adverse effect of low concentration water fluoridation at this time is dental fluorosis. It is a condition caused by 'excessive' intake of fluorine compounds over an extended period of time during tooth development (before teeth erupt into the mouth), and can cause yellowing of teeth, hypothyroidism, or brittling of bones and teeth.

The definition of 'excessive' in the context of fluorosis falls on the order of parts per million (ppm) and is generally accepted to mean significantly higher than the 0.7 to 1.2 ppm amounts recommended for fluoridated water. Fluoride in small amount is beneficial to teeth

Flouride prevents cavities. This is what happened in my country: In the 70 when this was realised, they (government healthrecommandation) started putting flouride in water. In addition they gave all the children fluoride tablets for free. What happened - we got the "no-cavity-generation". So; becoming aware of what you say here; they said it was enough with flouride in toothpaste; stopped tablets and fluoride in water. And what happened: the children got cavities again. So no - we're back sucking those flouride tablets.

Its important to also say that information on this and how to care for teeth; food and brushing is very available to the public.
