How sad.
Some veterinarians have recently had great success using Lasix in the treatment of this problem. Lasix is the brand name of the chemical Furosemide. Furosemide is a diuretic-saluretic. What it does is, it inhibits the reabsorption of sodium. The drug is administered intravenously immediately after birth of the water pup. It is important that you consult your veterinarian if you should suspect that your female dog may deliver water puppies.
Some signs for you to watch your pregnant female for are: drinking large amounts of water, nipples and surrounding tissues have a shiny look.

Lots of massage to help the extra fluid drain from the tissues. Chances are slim, they need lots of stimulation to help urinate similar to when the mother licks their bellies. this also helps stimulate the circulatory system if the pulse is sluggish. At the same time they must stay warm and be given nutrients while not over hydrating. If born not breathing and there is a pulse you have to swing them nose first rather abrubtly to get lungs working. (like some people do with weak lambs)

I know this is hard, but wallrus puppies should be put down at birth. They will have life long problems, if they survive. As a breeder you have to make tough decisions. Did your girl need a c section?
