Do the grading systems in school really tell the truth? Could the current grading systems inside schools be outdated and a source of problems?

Believe it or not, there was one teacher that my son had, that would not give letter or number grades on anything other than report cards, because she didn't want to make anyone feel bad for not doing as well as someone else. LOL !

So no I really don't think the current grading system works. I think it should be a cut and dried system. you know the answer-you got it right, you don't know the answer-you got it wrong. Not this pampering of lazy uneducated children. SO they really think these children's future boss' will give a great rats @ss about how they feel when they don't do so well at work today??? I doubt it too!

Of course the current grading system doesn't tell the truth! The numbers don't guarantee you how successful you can be in the future or how much you enjoyed learning the subjects. It just means that at that particular point in time, you either did great, good, average, below average or failed. Personally, I think the grading system should be backwards. The instructors should be the ones getting graded! From K-12, the parents should be able to judge whether the school is doing a good job at managing the kids. Teachers who can't simulate a cool learning environment should be in detention, suspended, or expelled. The same ideas should go for community colleges and universities. Viva la revolución!

The reason why the current grading system "fails" students, is because 60% is considered by law to be passing. What 60% or "D" means is that the student only knows a little more than half of the course/grade level content. That's hardly anything.

A passing grade should be at 80%, where a student knows most of the material. Of course, this would mean many more kids repeating grades, taking longer to finish their high-school diplomas....

Yes. There are no uniform grading system across the board. It all depends on the teacher and who she/he is sleeping with.
