she's afraid of all water? that's weird. I would slowly decrease her fears by desensitizing her to water. like leave a tub of water in the middle of the kitchen or something until she gets brave enough to get near it and sniff it. once she does, give her a treat. next, dip her paw or something in the water, and hold for a few seconds, then give a treat. the secret is rewarding her, so she feels encouraged to explore the water. eventually, she'll be ok, and ok with baths too.

It is possible to give your dog a dry bath. There is a powder available at pretty much any pet supply store (ask an employee to help you find it). The brand I use is 8in1 Premium Dry Shampoo - I got it at Walmart! You just sprinkle it on and then thoroughly brush it out. It manages to help remove dirt and oils and leaves your dog smelling sort of like baby powder. It is also supposed to be good for dogs who have sensitive skin and therefore cannot be bathed frequently. I have used it on both my dog and my cat. As for Jill's fear of ants...perhaps doggie psychotherapy is in order...just kidding!

They sell doggy wipes, like baby wipes at the pet store. Rub your dog down with it every day and it will keep her generally clean. If you can't afford the wipes, wet a face cloth with warm water and give her a wipe down.
It really works. I only have to wash my lab once in a while and she runs every day.

Try ordering a KV Vets catalog onling and look through it for ideas. It is a lot cheaper than a vet or even a pet store.

Use waterless shampoo. It's a foam you rub in and then dry him with a towel. I use it on my dog. She hates the water. She hates it so bad she won't go outside if there is dew on the grass.

Buy Pssst! shampoo at your drugstore and spray it on him. Then, rub him with a towel or get those giant pet wipes. They are like baby wipes but really big.

Pay to have them bathed. These people know how to handle them. Eventually they will get used to the water, then you can do it yourself.
