There are a few different schools of thought on this one(keeping in mind I don't belongto any of them)
Calvinists believe that Jesus died only for the elect. The elect are a preordained people that he KNEW would accept this gift before the foundations of the world.
Arminians believe that Jesus died for only the sains of those that CHOOSE him during the duration of this lifetime. They're the bunch that started the ole "age of accountabiliy" nonsense
Christian Universalists believe ALL MEN are saved by Jesus's finished work on the cross
I'm more of a believer in the new though philosaphy I also consider myself a pluralist I believe that all roads lead to source. I also believe alot of the idea's about Jesus were borrowed from other religons that predate Christianity. Including his death and ressurection.

if Jesus died so that we could be forgiven for our sins, then what?
1st we are judged whether one rejected or received Christ.
assuming you received Christ you are judged according to all you have said and done.
your works are judged to determine your reward. your works will be consumed by the Fire of God only that which was done in the spirit or holy works will survive the fire. what is left will be your reward in heaven.

If you are with out sin, or repented of your sin, then you have nothing to worry about. Also if you help people or not, if your a given person, you pray for other not just yourself, what in your head, heart, and soul will be judged also
Every ideal word will be judged.

He has opened the way for us to have everlasting life. It was only cuz he was obedient to his father and gave his perfect life as a ranson sacrafice that we are able to be forgiven for our sins and have everlasting life. Please read John 17:3 in your copy of the bible.
After Armageddon we will be judged during Christs Millenial reign of 1000 years.(Rev.20:2,3) During this time the ones who have been ressurected, either righteous or unrighteous(Acts 24:15) will have those 1000 years to learn how to prove upright in Jehovahs eyes and prove they love him by their acts and their reward will be everlasting life on Paradise earth forever(Psalm 37:10,11,29)after Satan is done away with forever.

Jesus died so that we receive salvation, in other words, eternal life. When he returns, he will be judging those who do not believe, and will be rewarding those who do. Ever heard of the crown of life? Laying our treasures in Heaven? That is what the reward will be. Hope this helps.

We are forgiven every time we ask and we will be judged by
Jesus for what we did or didn't do for Him. We will still be in
heaven with Jesus but He will be passing out Crowns for our
good and faithful service.

Jesus died for our sins so we can be saved. It is up to us to be saved. Also, back in those days the Jews were the chosen people and only they could be saved. After they crucified him everyone can be.

Did he really have to die for our sins? It seems quite extreme considering he died for peoples sins WHO WEREN'T EVEN ALIVE FOR ALMOST 2000 MORE YEARS. I know people who have gone to jail for others to cover up for their crimes etc... or take the blame for somebody to help out, but dying in advance for people who aren't born yet? Thats just weird.

First explain how his death results in forgiveness of sin in a rational way, then we can discuss the rest of your question.
