I have installed my xp program into an older laptop that contained windows 98. This program says I have to register within 30 days. Is this per computer or per household.

WinXP Generates a number based off your hardware serial numbers. That number is used to give you an unlock code. You are allowed to make so many changes before haveing to reregister. So the unlock code is specific not only to one computer but to the parts of that computer.

Its per Install. So Typically you can't have more than one valid installation on one computer at any point of time. Hope I am right.

I believe it's per computer because each time you buy a comp you have to register it. the same with new software you have to register new software. so register it.
