Are they allowed to marry americans? How do you know if they are married. Do they wear a ring?

Firstly Muslim Man can marry only Muslim , Christian or Jewish Woman, because all of them beliave in God.
Secondly the steps of marriage are simple in Islam, only the couple need 3 conditions:
1- He have to ask her (Do you accept me as a Husband, treating you in the best way as God order us, she have to aswer Yes I accept - if she want that).
2- At least 3 persons should attend this protocol as a witnesses.
3- Both of them should intend to Continual life.

A Muslim man can marry a Christian girl without her having to convert.

well , Engagements and other formalities are there ,but a muslim wedding is supposed to be simple.
The main Part is Nikaah or the contract of marriage .There is no requirement for ring as such .
