I was thought of as a snob...my Mother taught me some root word Latin at 3 and at 4 she taught me how to read. by thee age of 11 i was reading 2100 words per minute and couldn't get my head out of a book.... by 12 i read nearly 2400 words per minute and surpassed my speed reading teacher with incredible recall I read 8 books per day. I was not self absorbed, simply this one nearly magical thing. I can read Beyond the text and get into the book itself.....I was take out of 3 classes at 10 and the library was my sanctuary....8 books a day is what the library allowed. It was YEARS later that about nine different so called cliques at school alerted me at a concert in Las Vegas when I ran into several people I had known from school...just how popular I was. I dressed differently, had my own thoughts, refused to be in a yearbook, didn't go to a prom....and here i am today.....I am a Writer. Now....wouldn't that figure? What anyone wants to think of me, let them think it...however if you ask me, I might just have a delicious dialogue with you, and no....I am NOT a snob. I am only beginning to learn each moment i open my eyes again......so talk to a 'book worm' and find out the truth.....it's them/us you should ask...not the observations of others who think we live totally in our heads. Thank you....that felt wonderful.
BTW ~ I am as well a GREAT Listener too.......

People will think you are very interesting if you ask them questions about them (the other person) instead of telling them about you and what you are doing. It is absolutely amazing how people will be riveted to you so that you can ask about them. The most tedious person I ever met was a girl who always had done something similar or better and made sure that she told everyone about it. She volunteered all the information instead of waiting for someone to ask about her life. So it isn't about reading books but your social skills that attract or repel people. I learned that from a book or two, as I did most of my good social skills.

Not all, but it could be because they have less time to spare for other activities.
