I don't think I want to test someone's loyalty by having him fight beside my nephew. I would rather know that the men and women fighting beside him love this country as much as he does.

I think they need to earn the right, but not by joining our military.
I would like to see a CONDITIONAL amnesty given to all the illegals here now. (Assuming we are stopping more from coming in). The conditions ...
They must learn basic English.
They must learn some American history and culture.
They must be financially dependent, i.e., either employed or have a financial sponsor.
They must swear their allegiance to America and be signed up for the draft. (Within the draft eligibility guidelines)
They must do this within a time frame, such as 1 year. If they don't, or at least show effort after the time frame, they will be deported.
I have many loose ideas running around in my head ... how about this? The Illegals allowed amnesty through the above conditions, will have a felony conviction on their records. They will not ever be allowed to vote or own a gun. I'd love feedback on this thought ... good or bad!

I appreciate the thought ..really i do...but..you are inadvertently making it sound like OUR fighting men and women are nothing more than a bunch of people off the street that have been rounded up and given guns and directions to the front line. It costs a great deal of money to train the best military in the world. That money would be better spent on deporting illegals. If they want to show their desire for America..then they can leave while America fixes it's immigration issues and let them apply for citizen ship when we are done streamlining our admission requirements.

Most of the American military is made up of Asians, Indians, or Hispanics that their parents can affords college so they have to serve their country in order for them to have a future.

The illegals should build a replica of the Great Wall of China from San Diego to the Gulf.
With six or seven million building it, the work should go fast provided we keep Haliburton out of it.

That would place our countrymen in danger. A lot of the illegals will do whatever it takes to undermine the United States of America. So they would give security info to the enemy. Why you may ask bc they are the enemy.

I don't think we should give them any leeway. We should deport them. If they want to reapply for citizenship, let them do it on a fresh start all over again-just like any legal immigrant would.
FYI: Most illegals are here solely for citizen benefits, so I doubt they would serve.

Don't forget that all Americans (except Native Americans) came to this country in very recent history. I bet that your parents or grandparents immigrated here too. How did they "earn" their right to stay???

Um, yeah, let's give illegal immigrants guns. Put our trust into them completely. Sounds great. "We would see, right away, whether we have their loyalty or not!!!!" is absolutely right - we'd see too late for us to stop them, though.
