My doctor is stumped. Symptoms lasted now for 2 years and ended up having gallbladder surgery because of them. Pathology report stated a very healthy gall bladder. Dr does not know. Here they are: pressure inbetween shoulder blades, maybe off to the left a little. Never pain, but a sensation that I cannot take a deep breath...but I always can. A terrible full feeling off and on, not related to meals. IBS was thought but then dismissed after two image tests. X-ray showed 4 lung nodules size of peas or smaller and continue to have CT scans which show they are not calcified. Once, two years ago had a "spasm type attack" felt like it was in my back, between shoulder blades (same place I feel pressure) and it would spasm--terribly painful. Nearly fainted. Was sweating and could not breath well during it. But DUMB ME did not go to the ER. Just saw dr few days later. It lasted about 3 hours off and on. Never happened again. Please, any idea's? PS..age 36, female, 7 kids.

Hi Usingpaintwithpassion! Love your name!

Have you been evaluated for a Hiatal Hernia? This is a common condition that could account for your symptoms. It is a condition where the stomach herniates through the 'hiatus' of the diaphragm and pushes up into the chest.

You might consider seeing a good Chiropractor because a lot of physical treatments are available to help manage hiatal hernias. I am a retired Chiropractor and have used my Chiropractic colleagues to manage my hiatal hernia for many years.

Best wishes and good luck.

This sounds like a hiatal hernia attack. I've had them to where it feels as though I've swallowed a tennis ball, and it has gotten stuck in my esophagus. I had a more severe attack, like the one you described. I went to the ER and they gave me some green junk to drink and some Toradol (woooo) by injection. The nurse told me I'd feel relief in about 7 seconds...........I thought "yeah, right", but the combo of the two things worked like a charm. The "green dragon" as they called it, contained Lidocaine, and I was told to put it in the back of my mouth to swallow it (how do you do that with a drink????) The Lido anesthetizes the entire esophagus.

Anyway, next came the series of "here, swallow this radioactive crap so we can take x-rays and pictures", they found a sliding hiatal hernia. It was explained to me as part of the stomach actually slides up into the esophagus, and that's what causes the pain.

Please find a specialist and hopefully the specialist will order new and/or different tests that will identify your problems.
