I ask this merely because I am someone who is interested in people's motivations. belief, psychology and philospahy are interesting to me. Here's the question
If it could be prooven scientifically that there was no life after death how would this affect you and the way you live. Would it change your way of life drastically? Would it make some persuits and idea's more important and some that you already held less important?

Absolutely not. I believe my nature is to be as good for society as I can be, and does not require me believing in an afterlife. The goal is to help others as much as possible (without detriment to myself of course.) This doesn't mean I need material things, which I only need enough to remain comfortable, and it wouldn't change my pursuit for knowledge. I would remain a good and moral person because I feel I should be, not because a greater being will punish me for not doing so.

No! Because I know there is.
You see to prove that there is no after life one would have to prove that the clouds just happens to appear in the sky, and that rain forms out of the blue on it's own; and that the wind just blows because the trees are there. That man was formed out of no where (take evolution and bury it for that to is a lie). They would have to prove that the mind (brain), heart, kidney, veins, arteries, pancreas all the inside of man was just naturally formed . That a woman carrying a baby nine months which is a mystery still to some, body can regenerate and be as it was.
That certain miracles in this world happens because of circumstances or that circumstances happen because of chance. None of these things as well as others can be scientfically proven by man. Because God's knowledge and wisdon is higher than man's; therefore the clay will never out do the potter or out prove him. The same one that gives life, and let life cease, will also let it live again. Therefore if someone said there isn't life after death it wouldn't change me. Because Jesus lives therefore those who beleive in him will live again also.

Hypothetically, yes it would. No afterlife would mean no God, No supreme being to look up to and take examples from. The Christian God tells us to attempt to be like him. Without all that, I (and every one else) would most likely do what they wanted, how they wanted to do it. Timid people would hide in the shadows, aggressive people would subjugate the timid. Why not? You know it ends when it ends, so you have to do all your living now!You don;t care what others think of you or leaving a legacy, because you won't be here.

At the risk of blasphemy, Your best Las Vegas odds are to believe and plan for an afterlife. If there is YOU WIN! If there isn't you won't be a conscious entity to regret all you missed.

It can't ever be proven. Scientifically or otherwise.

But for the sake of hypothesis, I suppose it would change my life. I spend a lot of time in church, reading the Bible and answering questions from that bias.

I don't know how much of the rest of my life I would change. I would still like to meet with and befriend those in my congregation. They're a wonderful group of people and I enjoy spending time with them.

I don't know what I would focus on. I guess philosophy or psychology. I am interested in means of alleviating suffering and healing the soul. My basis of doing so would be altered, but it would still be my focus.

It would not change me at all. I don't live my life the way I do, due to threats and promises of what will come next.
And if there were proof that there was an afterlife, and the hardcore christians were right, I still wouldn't change the way I lived either.

I seriously doubt that I would change at all. In fact I know I wouldnt change. I enjoy living my life with respect, honesty, the do unto others (rule) , keeping my life free the best I can free of inmoral thinking or pleasures as others may call it. No I would not change, mainly because I guess its just hard to accept a different concept of afterlife _-----not being!

I can tell you from personal experience--having gone from believing in an afterlife to believing you cease to exist on physical death--that not believing in an afterlife helps one to focus more on doing right simply because it is right and not to brown-nose one's way into Heaven. When people stop focusing all their attention on escaping Earth and entering Heaven, they can try to make the world a better place in one way or another instead of trashing it.
It would be nice to spend eternity in Heaven, but I'm not betting that an afterlife exists. Knowing I'm going to simply die and cease to exist brings the humility of knowing I'm as much part of the earth as any plant, animal, or rock; I don't have to presume to be special or superior.

Not for me. Although I believe, I live my life pretty much the same way I would without it.

It may change me, in the emotional sense. I may feel stupid, or mis-lead, or even disappointed, But as far as my moral values, abiding by the laws of the land, the way I live, no, I cant say it would change much.

I would ask "How can you prove ther is no life after death?" To which you would respond, "How can you prove there is life after death?" To which I would respond:

"Because twelve normal, ordinary, everyday, working class men would never die for a lie."

PS. I would suggest spell checking before submitting your questions, otherwise people will not give you credit for being an educated person.

I kind of ask a question similar to yours a while back. I have to admit, I would be a little disappointed if it was certain there would be no afterlife. Other than that, it wouldn't change who I am.
