It's an old saw about optimisim: the optimist will look at what exists and the pessimist will look at what is missing.

Personally, my glass has a crack in it and is leaking =)

"The glass is half full" would be an optimists view of the world. They see the good in things. On the other hand, "the glass is half empty would be a pessimists look on life and they always see the bad.

Depending on how you see the glass, half empty or half full, one can tell if you are an optimist or pessemist (sp). Personally, before I go wondering if the glass is full or empty, I wonder what the heck is in the glass.

If the glass is half full then your an optimist (you think positive) ...half empty means your a pessimist (you think negative).....I like my own version that has almost nothing to do with the first.....
glass of SoCo = half empty
a glass of the nastiest protein drink ever concocted= only too full

they say to look at the glass as half full rather then half empty.

imagine you have a glass of water. it is halfway filled. the idea is that when you describe the glass you will describe it one of two ways. If you are a positive person, you will say it is half-full and if you are a negative person, you will say it is half-empty. In a real situation, if your boyfriend is leaving you and you say it is the end of your life, a friend may ask you to look at your glass as half full. he/she may accompany this with reasons. such as now you have more free time to do what you want or you wouldn't want to be with a guy who doesn't want you anyway. this is comsidered as looking upon the situation as the glass is half full (in a positive light). Hope this helps!

When you look at a glass that has water in it to the halfway point, do you think it is half full or half empty?

"half full" means optimistic; "half empty" means pessimistic.

Quotations can answer any life's situation.. "The glass is full " could mean one fully understand or on the other hand it could mean you had enough of a situation and there is no more room for negotiation . A Half empty glass suggest that one may have a little more tolerant left for a given situation. It could also mean that there is room for more growth or more negotiation .

Optimism v. pessimism. It's the same glass and the same amount of water, but an optimist will see the up side- half full, and the pessimist will see the downside- half empty.

It's about being pessimistic (The glass is half empty), or Optimistic (the glass is half full!). It's meant to refer to how you look at life - either good (half full), or bad (half empty)
