I think you should stay in San Diego. Try something new. Growing up somewhere different will bring intresting times, unlike moving back to Phoenix. Trust me. I live in Phx. Sucks big time. No ocean, blazing summers, freezing winters. Allow your son to experience something new and different from what you grew up with. It'll be fun. Face it, you love San Diego, and having a little distance from your family will make you treasure the times you guys actually get to see each other. Do it for yourself and your son. I see both of you benefitting from it.

Live where you would like to live. I'm a fellow San Diegan, grew up here, but we're thinking about moving away due to the housing costs. All my husband's family is here, as is my mother and one of my sisters, but housing prices make it impossible to buy on our income. Besides, I like a wider variety of weather.
I grew up away from my extended family, however. All my cousins, aunt, uncles and grandparents live in Sacramento. I never found it to be a problem. We saw them a couple times a year.
I can tell you the biggest disadvantage to living away from family is something my mother is experiencing right now. My grandfather, her father, is in the hospital and may not last much longer. This is one of the few times she has wished to live back in Sacramento. Otherwise, she has not had many regrets for living so far from the rest of her family.
Only you can decide what will work best for you and your son. There are advantages each way as well as disadvantages. In either case you can still visit whichever place you do not decide to live.

Stay in San Diego. You have been in SD for 6 years and have no history? Home is where you make it. Good luck.

Your question seems to imply that you want to live where you are. Weigh your pros and cons. Make a list of all the reasons to live in one place and then all the reasons not to live there. Then do the same for the other list. It ought to give you a pretty good idea of where you will be happiest.

I just ask my child where they want to live, and my girl says Colorado, and next year, we will be moving back there again. You should ask your son where he wants to live, he does have an opinion as well. Its your choice though

You know that's a decision you should make- it seems pretty foolish to ask the opinion of a bunch of random, anonymous ppl who are mainly here just to waste time.

Why are you moving? If there is no need, and you have a life and friends there, why move. It is your life, family can be visited, phoned, internet chat, etc. Be where you are most happiest, and life will be easier.

places change. people change times chance. you should too. you dont have to move back unless you really want to. also, ask your son for an opinion. if you both want to stay, then there's no reason to go!
